Photographer's Note
Two brothers, Francisco and Luciano Maria Cordeiro de Sousa, founded a company named Carris de Ferro de Lisboa, in Rio de Janeiro (BR) in 1871. The purpose of this company was to construct a tram system in Lisbon. In 1873 the town council of Lisbon gave its permission to these plans, and at midnight on September the 16th the first tram ride was med. The wagons were drawn by mules during the first years, but in 1901 electric wagons were introduced.
The traditional yellow tramways have been replaced or renewed these last years, but some mythical lines have been kept with the old wagons, like the 28 and the 15. Maly & Tanton & J.G.Brill built many of these wagons before the First World War in Sheffield, UK.
This photo was taken in Praça do Comércio (Commerce Square), which has been extensively presented here in TE by other members, hence I won’t be commenting.
On a more personal side, this is the city where I was born and where I spent the first 25 years of my life. I guess it was about time that I uploaded a photograph of it.

Nao sabia que es Portugues. Dos membros deste 'site' eu pensei que era unica pessoa de Portugal desterrada em terras distantes.
O foto do esta gira e muito tipica mas tem um toque especial, o fotografo tao carregado.
Gosto do reflexo na janelas, que por sorte e do edificio amarelo.

Bonjour Gal,
Voila une photo qui a un fort cote Mario (malopes), mais bon tout le monde a le droit de photographier ces elements du patrimoine de Lisbonne, d'ailleurs moi aussi j'en ai fait qq uns, le cote original de cette vie c'est l'inclusion du touriste qui lui aussi a succombe a leur charme, c'est bien vu !

Belle lumière sur ce tramway, les couleurs sont bien saturées, et la composition est sympa avec ce photographe en premier plan. J'aurai peut être aimé voir un cadrage un peu plus large, pour intégrer un peu plus de l'environnement autour du wagon

Excelente nota, nao só a desvendar algo sobre os famosos electricos de Lisboa como tambem da tua propria vida.
Os electricos de lisboa sao muito fotografados, mas nunca cansam... é um mundo de sonho!
Aqui temos um 2 em 1... o fotografo apanha o fotografo que apanha o electrico.

Ce tram est vraiment beau et j'aimerai que celui que nous construit la ville de Nice soit aussi beau!

I swear that Jose has posted a photo of that trolley car... ;-) I hope you checked with that photographer to find out if he's a member of TE. We seem to be all over the place!
This has the feel of a familiar image from you. A different city yes, but with the feel of well aged Europe. How nice to have something from your home. I imagine we'll see more photos from your recent trip. I look forward to that.
You don't mention camera or lens, but the EXIF data tells us you're using your 350D Rebel. The lens is at 50 mm, but that could be your Tamron or Canon 50 f/1.8. I'm guessing Tamron. The image has some interest because of the photographer in the foreground and it certainly exhibits good color and sharpness. Thanks for introducing us to your home.

Hi Gal, le peu que je connais du Portugal est à travers les photos de nos amis de TE mais c'est un pays que j'ai toujours rêvé de visiter - Le tramway jaune est super (je trouve cette machine très sympa) et j'aime beaucoup le photographe photographié -

tão diferente do seu approach para os assuntos da vida. tão... tradicional. tem um quê de decepção, não sei. não ouso tentar adivinhar, não tenho essa pretensão. só quero deixar claro o que me vem ao ver/ler.

Este é um daqueles motivos que não me canso de ver. Os eléctricos de Lisboa ocupam aqui, o lugar que os taxis em Londres, ou as Vespa em Roma têm. Têm o carisma e a beleza que apenas a unicidade pode dar.
Gosto também do humor do caçador a ser caçado. Resta saber se ele conseguiu um enquadramento melhor que o teu. ;-)
