I took this picture two years ago and never intended to publish it. But I decided to upload it now to memorize one of my favourite palm trees in Lisbon which was growing in front of Sao Miguel church in Alfama. It was growing...but now it is not there anymore. It was infected by the beetle which kills palms all across Lisbon. The locals say it was over one hundred years old. If no coordinated and immediate action is undertaken to stop this plague it is likely that all palm trees will disapear from the cityscape of Lisbon. The death of these emblematic trees would be a great loss to this wonderful city.
