Photographer's Note

Campo das Cebolas (in English: field of onions) is a square in Lisboa (Lisbon), located between the Praa do Comrcio, the Alfama district, and the river Tejo (Tagus).
Despite its name, there is no onions plantation nowadays here. By the other hand, there's a lot of palms. This picture shows the eastern faade of the Ministry of Finance, early morning, when the workers (blue and white collar) buy the newspaper at the stand on the corner of the field and Rua da Alfndega (Customs street).
From this Field of Onions you can get the elctrico (tram) #25E to the Cemetery of Pleasures.
See also the Arco das Portas do Mar ("Arch of the Gates of the Sea") in this square, with a view of the palms.

O Campo das Cebolas, na baixa lisboeta, perto dos limites de Alfama. No sei donde vem o nome, mas hoje em dia o que se encontra aqui so palmeiras. Fachada este do Ministrio das Finanas.
