Photographer's Note

Posting der Blauwe Engel a few days ago forms a good opportunity to get another train pic in and add it to my Tough & Rugged Portuguese railway series.

This is a detail of a DMU-3 (diesel(-hydraulic) multiple unit) of the 600 series of CP, built in 1981 and elongated in 1989 by the Portuguese Sorefame company in licence of the Budd company of Philadelphia USA. These DMU’s are the mainstay now of CP’s Algarve fleet. They seat 194 passengers and deliver 570 kW.

This one is halting on track 1 of the station of Tavira on its run from Faro to Villa Real de S.Antonio. We were on our way to Villa Real to take the little ferry to Ayamonte in Spain.
A shot of complete DMU at speed is
here
.

I love these squat, shiny and comfortable stainless steel trains with their roaring twin diesels .

PCS tech: saturation (master) boosted/altered, adjusted levels, contrast, highlighted some shadow areas, burned the rust, USM-ed , frame added saved for the web.

After Rinie's crit I added a fun B&W version as a WS.
