Ιdifiι pour commιmorer la victoire des Portugais sur les Castillans ΰ la bataille d'Aljubarrota en 1385, le monastθre des dominicains de Batalha fut pendant deux siθcles le grand chantier de la monarchie portugaise oω se dιveloppa un style gothique national original, profondιment influencι par l'art manuιlin, comme le montre le cloξtre royal, vιritable chef-d'oeuvre.
The Monastery of the Dominicans of Batalha was built to commemorate the victory of the Portuguese over the Castilians at the battle of Aljubarrota in 1385. It was to be the Portuguese monarchy's main building project for the next two centuries. Here a highly original, national Gothic style evolved, profoundly influenced by Manueline art, as demonstrated by its masterpiece, the Royal Cloister.

Pas facile de faire ressortir l'architecture de monument aussi grand. Pourtant cette composition est trθs bien et attire le regard sur la forme et le sens. L'angle de prise de vue, peu courant, convient parfaitement ΰ l'image. Dommage que les vitraux soit sur-exposι... mais c'est un dιtail.

Very nice POV on the King tomb. As a matter of fact I've got a similar composition in one of my early postings.
In this one we can feel the complexity and the beauty of this building very well. Just miss a bit more sharpness.

thumbs up for the original angle you chose. it's well exposed, too, which i think it's a bit hard to do in such difficult light conditions.
