Photographer's Note
Graciosa, Flores and Corvo, in the 39° parallel, are the only islands in the North Atlantic between the latitude of Lisbon (38° 40') and New York (40° 40').
Although the west coast of Flores gets more rain than any other place at the same elevation in Europe, North America or the extratropical North Atlantic, in January it is warmer than any other place in Europe, from Gibraltar to Cyprus, and almost 14°C warmer than NYC.
Yearly Precipitation at the Flores High Plateau is second only to locations in the tropics, and almost ten times as much as in Lisbon or... at the capital of Graciosa.

Olα Ilena,
A little known island, even for the Portuguese that interested in Azores. The colours, the relief and the profusion of water falls reminds much the tropics. A breath taking image, a very informative note!
