This time in a week Poland will already have new parliament MPs elected. This is the struggle between West and East – the struggle between democracy or Byzantine-like quasi-dictatorship. We’ll have to answer if we belong to European model of contemporary world or we stay in the 19th century mentality. TBC…

In this series I’ll present you different people. All of them have this unquestionable right to vote and choose the future for them, their children and their children’s children…

Czesc Jerzy! Piekne zdjecie z Jablecznej. Najbardziej cieszy mnie kapliczka w glebi, elektorat tez, ale troche mniej. Az strach pomyslec czyj to elektorat. Ale moze przesadzam, moze wcale nie bedzie tak zle.

Hello Jerzy,
This is an extraordinary bit of photo-journalism. By focusing not on the woman in the foreground, but on the two immediately behind her you have created a sense of drama, forcing the viewer's eyes to scan back and forth. Your short essay is also very good, and a lesson to be heeded everywhere, not just in Poland.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Witaj Jerzy!
Wspaniałe. Doskonale dobrana głębia ostrości. Mając do dyspozycji długą ogniskową i światełko 2,8 można poszaleć... Kompozycja jakość i wrażenie ogσlne - super!

Hi Jerzy,
Kind of strange picture with the focus on the second row.
Colors are good. Sharpness to but, then, on a old smoking woman.... There are so many beautiful girls in your country (LOL)! Great POV and original picture.

Widzę tu ciekawy eksperyment z ostrością. Na ile to przypadek a na ile zamysł - to wie twσrca. Efekt przykuwa uwagę. To na temat techniki. A co do treści - seria aktualna i ważna. Waży się nasza przyszłość...
Pozdrawiam.

I looked at the series about a week ago, and I'm glad to return.
Your passion for democracy, people and the future of your country is admirable.
The unusual composition is an eyecatcher.
I like the church in the background and the nature around all.
I wish you good luck :)

Terrific and brave choice you made here, J - focus NOT on the tip of the triangle, no, but rather on the tw ladies behind, one of them smoking with tital abndonment ;o) A striking compo with 3D-like rendering. Cool...

It's the smoking lady who stands out here, more so than her companion beside her. I also like the way her blue shawl echoes the colour on the shrine in the background, and of the distant woods behind.
Clever use of selective focus and shallow depth of field - having the woman in the foreground out of focus forces the to explore the frame before coming to rest on smoking lady.
Good stuff.
Cheers,
Ben

I suppose it's because you're both Poles, but this great work you are doing here in this series reminds me much of the films of Andrez Wajda, particularly in his later years. This one, sitting on the glowing edge between bleary reality and glazed myth is just searing. What a great photo, not just for the technique, but for the sensibility behind it. Best, -Hugh

Fantastyczne ujęcie Jurek. solidny opis, wpływy wschodu i miejscowe panie: mnie jednak fascynuje głębia ostrości -- efekt jest piorunujący i aż sobie dodam ujęcie do ulubionych. nic nie kręciłeś na prg graficznym? może inaczej bym skadrował, dając panie bardziej na środek. a kolory? żywe. i mi się b. podoba. pzdr

Excellent photo, actually the choice of focus is what does it for me, with focus on the front person it wouldn't be near as good. Great colours, the only nit pic I have is the position of the oof person on the stairs, a bit more separation from the head of the woman would have been perfect.

An instant favorite for me. Frankly I have never seen a photograph like this, where the pin-sharp focus in in the midground that is nearly occluded by a glorious bokeh in the dead center and a symmetrical background also in bokeh. This is a masterpiece in selective focusing and compositional lesson.
[And I have a nasty suspicion that this would not work in black and white ;-)]

Jerzy, those colors and the bokeh you created are a pure gem to the eye! the focus on the second group of women is a very clever idea and adds a lot to the success of this photo! Well done!

ok, me again :)
the beautiful colors, but most of all the very interesting and perfectly well handled choice of focus make this image visually appealing to me ... not to forget the women's faces, of course ... so very familiar - so very close to what we see around here - thank you for this!

good luck for tomorrow, jerzy - and may polish people choose wisely - we need good examples, too

Amazing how you use the lens and you create a new world with this view.
The composition is great and I love how you play with the focus.

I like the fact the first woman is blurred and the 2 others neat. They make a sort of triangle. The new Charlie's Angels? ; )
Great colors.
