Photographer's Note
THis is one of Poland's easternmost points, the town of Nimirow. THis was one of my favorite towns in the region, with nice traditional style wooden houses and just a short walk away from Bielorusia.
Its hard not to notice the almost total absence of young people here. They seem to have all gone somewhere else. Only the old stay behind. This seems to be the reality in many rural regions in the world. How can these towns be saved from dying while providing good life opportunities for their youth to stay? A question to be thought of in the future.

Hi Daniel
Excellent composition thanks to the interesting positions of the 2 gentleman. I like how you cropped tightly on his foot. The old buildings give character and the green one is pretty colourful.

Hello Daniel, this is an appealing picture of these two men. I like their different poses and the fact that they are both looking away, possibly looking back to earlier times. The seated man's colourful cap and shoes catch the eye well.

Very interesting post, Daniel! Indeed, the young always stay tuned to the trend while the old find it hard to catch up (and maybe dont even want to...). Progress was and will most probably be the main engine that pushes the young to explore and find new avenues in their life, to make the best of their life and not to stay put with old traditions. It is not that bad, when you think about it, as long as they dont forget where they came from and keep the family tradition.
This picture has a documentary feel to it, a pro feel to it, with the natural posture of your subjects looking forward, waiting for fresh and young mind to come into town..? The wide angle and the close distance show you had a good contact with them and even somekind of intimacy was formed while you visited these fellas...At the end, you brought us eastern Poland at it's simple truth - a long forgotten realm...
Well done!

Hello Daniel,
la lumiθre me semble assez forte mais la scθne et la compo sont intιressantes.
Il y a une bonne diagonale avec ces 2 hommes.
Les bβtiments colorιs sont un bon arriθre plan.
Bien vu, a+

Hola Daniel.

The problem you are describing is real. Very much a problem because in a generation, or two, the countryside is going to be empty. Young people dont want to farm. This is one of the biggest reasons why Polish agriculture MUST be reformed. It MUST be more efficient, must make money. Young people dont want to waste their lives doing something that doesnt earn money. Farming must be run by less people and it must make money. Large western style farms are the future. Must be the future.
I also see the same happening in Korea. Farmers cant find wives. What girl wants to be a farmer's wife when she can live in the city and lead an easier life? Thats why 1/3 rural marriages involve a foreign wife from Vietnam Phillippines or China. Its a similar exodus. Its also going to change the ethnic fabric of Korea. I think for the better as it will open this country up to foreigners and force a social change.
I like your photo. I think the light is skirting a bit close to being too much. But it is just under that line. Well balanced compo and very important photo with social commentary.

Hello Daniel,
Nice picture from daily life at Nimirow, unfortunately this is not an exclusive problem of Nimirow...
Like the expressions on man's faces, colours and lightning.
Well done.

Hi Daniel
Interesting capture here. The shot conveys the feeling of emptiness to this village. The posture of the two men is interesting too, as they gaze into the distance. The strong lighting adds extra impact as well. A good capture of this moment.

hi Daniel, its not hard to notice that villages are becoming places for the older generation, people like here...you framed it really nicely, showing the men against the houses they live in, everything unbelievably ancient...
best regards

Daniel, I like this simple composition. It says so much about the rural lifestyle, which for us in the cities is very easy to disregard and forget. Beautiful portrait.

Hi Daniel,
There are so many nice shots that I am quite at a loss. However, I am much attracted by this issue of the young leaving for greener pastures. We do face the same problem here and I felt it should be tackled right now.
I enjoyed the composition and the scene with a good repetition of the fence and the windows. The colours are fantastic and you handled the back lighting very well. I always have problem in this area. As for the two men, their action speaks volume. Congratulations!! All the best.

Hi Daniel. I like the natural poses that you have captured here, and the fact that the composition tells a story. We could almost guess the story even without your note because this is so typical of what is happening in rural areas around the developed world. Good framing and cropping. Cheers . . . David

Really good documentary scene fitting TE purpose. The note is really welcome. Must be really interesting to visit such a place. I had an opposite feeling when living in Africa : maybe 60% of the population below 25 years old and no real opportunity to work... Very good topic for debate.

Yes, it is quite true, the young moved to cities to look for their chances. This is a typical scene for a village, also because the older people just like to sit in front of houses and spend the whole day like this.
The man is a fashion man! Blue socks, brown slippers, red cap, wow :)
Well caught.
