The Leszno – the city on rights of administrative district in the Wielkopolska's province, laid in western part of Poland, among two large economic centres – the Poznan and Wroclaw.
Townhall Leszno
The most beautiful Baroque - Classical townhall in Wielkopolska, designed by Pompeo Ferrari. Its massive body is crowned with a tower with a double decked cupola. The today's appearance of the townhall comes from the 2nd half of the 17th century. However, in its architecture in large measure the original arrangement from 1639 is retained. The tower is crowned with a figure of eagle - the national emblem of Poland with Leszno's coat of arms and dates: 1547 (foundation of the city), 1920 (the end of Prussian annexation) and 1931 (the placement of the eagle on the townhall tower). On the eastern, front wall, a Baroque stone cartouche with a symbol of justice is visible. The following cartouches depict emblems of the city of Leszno and the families of Leszczynscy and Sulkowscy In 2002 two carillons were installed (12 bells with electromagnetic "heart"). They are the gift from the partnership city of Deurne from the Netherlands. They were cast in the worlds's biggest bell foundry of Koninklijke Eisbouts.
