Photographer's Note

After a week in my hometown, I had a chance to visit some other beautiful destinations in Poland. This photo was taken in Toruń. I think this may be the second most beautiful town in Poland, and yet it remains relatively off the beaten track of international tourists. In 1997, the medieval part of the Toruń was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Toruń is known to every child in Poland for two reasons:
(1) It is the birthplace of Polish astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus.
(2) It is famous for the tasty Torun Gingerbreads.

Even though I visited Toruń many years ago, I didn’t take any photos then. This trip was for me also an opportunity to upload here my first photo from Kujawsko-Pomorskie County. If TrekEarth maps would function as they should, I would with this photo have yet another county painted on my TrekEarth map of Poland.

In this photo you see Church of the Holy Apostles James and Philip located at the eastern corner of the New Town Square of Toruń.
