Photographer's Note
Some time ago under guidance of TE member Jerzy we had this little meeting in East Poland in the Podlaskie region east of Warsaw close to the border of Belarus. A highlight was too visit the Orthodox church in a little town (I do not remember the name of). They had an easter mess and finally made a procession by walking around their church 3-4 times before closing up the event. Impressive to see the blend of young and elder participants. And what a story they have, the Orthodox in Bialystok, as told here...

Ha !!!
When I saw this photograph in the galery, I wondered if there was Jerzy Bucki photo ;). So, you met Jerzy...
I like this photograph...Not easy to compose, I suppose...with the crowd and high elements. Best regards. Grazyna.

Good choice of b&w for this one, Jack, enhancing the somber mood of the procession, yet retaining the atmosphere as well as the interesting details. The work with the contrast/clarify is a little more than I would have done, casting an almost eerie glow on portions of the image. But overall certainly a worthy add to your Poland series.

Hi Jack.
Jerzy...a big guy hahahahahahhaa. I met him in Varsaw and it was a lovely experience too!
About the picture, a nice B&W photo where the contrasts are good and you show us a reality in Poland: how religious they are.
Well done!

Yes, certainly there seems to be a Jerzy influence here, and a very Jerzy subject. Nicely done, and good choice of B&W. You seem to pushed the contrast to the extent of losing some detail inthe very bright parts, is that delibereate, it works the extent giving the shot a suitable retro look.

Bonjour, mon ami Jack,
Vous avez su parfaitement tirer parti de cette procession religieuse. L'on sent bien ΰ travers cette prise de vue l'implication des fidθles.
Le noir et blanc est parfait pour donner plus d'impact ΰ cette procession.
Amitiιs.

Very impressive shot Jack. I like the composition that emphasizes well the idea of 'procession' and the post processing you did. Well done

I like the contrasty black and white treatment you gave this photo. It adds a real timeless feel to the photo.

Hi Jack,
The b&W and the strong like are very interesting. It seems this shot very very old, and this feeling is emphasized by the scene, because there is nothing (signals, electrical tower...) from our century. It's beautiful the succession of icons and standards. And it's interesting too for the subjetc itself. Very nice shot, thanks.
Regards,
Angel.

Hello Mr. Johanson,
Very impressive mood in this B&W gem. I love its old look and the serious expression on the people's faces. Excellent sharp details, and a photo worth examining for minutes. TFS,

Hi Jack. Like your vision of the ceremony. With sharp contrasts it looks like out of some fifty years old paper reproduction. And as a matter of fact nothing changed during that period of time. Good point of view and splendid composition. And it's interesting to see an old business with new eye. Greetings T.
