Photographer's Note
This is the inside of one of the structures used to house the prisoners at Birkenau. If you look at my other photo, you can get an idea of the scale of the camp. Each chimney there is one of these structures.
The thing in the middle is a heater, but it was very inneficient and provided little heat. The floor was lined with straw. It was very reminiscent of a barn.

Very effective. Extremely desolate and wanting of answers to implied questions. The off-centred white-out lends more to the dark mystery of the place.

I don't think I could say it any better then chalcone (Michael). I think in colour this and the others like this would have less impact for some reason. The description (Notes) are well written and informative as well.
Did you originally take this (and the others) in B&W?

Very sober- I'm sure it wouldn't have looked as wonderful in color.
