Photographer's Note

I was walking on the open fields around my house on evening in April, not really thinking about anything, just enjoying a nice evening.
I came to see this sunset, the colours this evening were just amazing.
I took a series of photos and this one turned out best, I have others as well but they haven't been delevolped yet.

The view I got this evening made me think:
Emptyness.... how beautiful it can be, so quiet, so tranquil...

Having this view I could just imagine what life was like at this location some 1000 years ago.
Vikings finished with their daily chores were proparbly relaxing, getting ready to go to bed. They must have dreamt of how good they had it, this also included the slaves they had, Trellene.

In Sola the slaves would be considered lucky, the local chief was Erling Skjalgson. A very just man.
He wasn't always agreeing with other chiefs and their way of life, he always did something different.
In Sola, he promised that all the slaves would eventually recieve their freedom. If they worked for the number of years he had set, they would eventually be set free. Not only were they set free, they were also given a piece of land for themselves.

It was then great sorrow for Sola when Erling Skjalgson was killed in a battle around 1000AD.
Norway was in civil war, they wanted to be one great kingdom. What Erling wanted I am not sure of, but it is said, that when his men were all killed and he stood upon a moud of his killed enemies and he was about to surrender, his cousin (who had sided with the opposing chief) jumped forth and landed an axe to his head. The opposing chief (whos name I am not aware of) cried out: "You fool! You just made the entire country slip out of my hands!.

Afterwords Erling was carried to his grave by Sola Ruin church by locals who had arrived after the battle was over.

I will get back with more precise history once I get my hands on the historybook that is soon to come out.

If anyone has any thoughts or view about my photo or my note, please don't be hesitant to either contact me or leave me critique.
