Photographer's Note

Sunday a couple of weeks ago was the most stormy so far this year, with heavy wind all day. Still I did go to Oppdal, a mountain village a couple of hours drive away.

The weather was varied to say the least, with quick change between cloudy and sunny and this resulted in interesting photo conditions. Shady parts broken by direct sunshine on fresh snow, quite a challenge exposure wise...

In the image we can see the southern part of Mt Hornet (Storhornet, altitude 1589 m), visible from almost everywhere in the village and surroundings as it marks the western border of the municipality.

If you look closely at the first workshop image - WS 1 - you will see how the snow blows off the summit, indicating that the weather is not suited for skiing and outdoor activities this Sunday in March!

WS 2 shows a street scene from the village.

----------

I have posted several images from the Oppdal area before, but here comes some facts about the place.

Oppdal is a mountain village located in the south-western part of Sr-Trndelag county. The place used to be a typical farming area but nowadays tourism is by far more important, based on alpine skiing during winter and different outdoor activities in the summertime. The municipality has around 6.500 inhabitants and most of them live around the centre Oppdal.
