Photographer's Note
World-famous painter Edvard Munch willed all of his works still in his possession to the municipality of Oslo. The donation amounted to about 28 000 paintings, sketches, photographs and sculptures. It has long been clear that their current home, Oslo's Munch Museum, is insufficient both with respect to displaying and maintaining this collection.
In 2008, Oslo's city council decided to build a new museum for Munch's art. An architectural competition for the new museum was announced, and in 2009 an international jury named as the winner Spanish architect Juan Herreros' proposal Lambda.
Herreros's proposal is based on the idea of a tower-shaped museum, where the main functions are organised vertically.
MUNCH is sixty metres tall and constitutes an interesting counterpoint to nearby buildings, most notably to the horizontally oriented Oslo Opera House.
With cladding in recycled, perforated and partially translucent aluminium panels and its characteristic leaning top section, the museum has become a distinctive Oslo landmark.

Hello Daniel,
It's an interestingly designed building that will probably compete with the opera for global attention. There is a lot of steel and glass shining with a blue tone at the blue hour.
It might have been useful to add to the note that this museum will open to the public in about two weeks, October 22.

Ciao Daniel,another "something new" for me after my trip there many years ago, a big museum made in a very nice and modern architechture, Munch for Oslo is like Gaudi' for Barcelona, an important man to have a lot of tourists in the city thanks to him,i like it! Every time during different decennia's get we other architectures.
It is certainly a daring project, also nice executed, but not my style.
I am more educated with the old style, maybe more to restauration.
But your picture are splendid made.

Hello Daniel,
This new building is sure to attract everyone's attention.
Because the main functions are organized vertically, I suspect that you also have great views inside. Apart from the artworks, of course.
