Photographer's Note

Zealand (Zeeland, literally Ground of the Sea) is a seaboard province of the south-west of the Netherlands, broadside with l' west by the North Sea and south by the Belgian border.
Islands and presqu' islands which constitute Zealand are:
Zuid-Beveland Walcheren Noord-Beveland Tholen Schouwen-Duiveland Sint-Philipsland The remaining part which is neither an island, nor a island, and whose only terrestrial access with the remainder of the Netherlands was made in 2003 while passing by Belgium, s' call the Flanders zιlandaise (Zeeuws Vlaanderen). Since this year, the tunnel of l' The Western Scheldt, which leads of Terneuzen to Borsele, connects the Flanders zιlandaise directly with the remainder of the country. The chief town of the province is Middelbourg (Middelburg). Flessingue (Vlissingen) is an important seaport, just like Terneuzen. The other big cities are Hulst, Goes and Zierikzee. The d' number; inhabitants is d' approximately 380.000. In most of the province, the population speaks about the dialects zιlandais and in Hulst one speaks a Flemish dialect. In the big cities, the dialect is lost gradually but 60% of Zιlandais l' use still daily. Great work d' damming up of the Delta plan made it possible to connect the four islands or presqu' principal islands and to put at l' shelter of the grounds often located below the sea level.
