Photographer's Note
On 21/22 February 1945 Bleijenbeek Castle was destroyed by bombs from the English RAF. Little has happened after the bombardment of the site within the moat with regard to the removal of bombs and grenades and the support of the tower. The ruins have been neglected for over 60 years.
The Castle ruins form the northern 'gateway' of the De Maasduinen National Park.

Hi Elaine, the ruins of the castle are still as the bombing had left them, therefore it remains a piece of history from when it was built and also a witness to what happened during the war, a perfect capture in the best light and quality. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Sorry for all the English. I was just kidding:-)
The picture, on the other hand, is very good.

Hi Elaine
Very imposing ruined castle, I think this must have been a magnificent place in its day!! They knew where to build in those days. Great detail, colour and contrast. Good documentary shot

Hi Elaine,
I thought you were showing us some ancient ruins. But your note reveal that the damage is from the WWII. I had no idea there were bombings in Netherlands still in February of 1945. Beautiful pond in the foreground. Those shaped bushes catch attention too.

Hi Elaine,
Quite a sad story, at first bombed and then neglected for so long. And I heard Germans have even stolen your bikes on their way out!
Quite a charming scene. As pity as it is, the damage is usually very photogenic.
Pleasant natural colors. Great place for a walk,
M

Hallo Elaine,
Wat zonde dat er alleen nog een ruοne over is van het kasteel, hoewel het hier wel heel mooi afsteekt tussen al het groen. Ook het water op de voorgrond is mooi, met zelfs nog wat spiegelingen.

Hello Elaine,
The ancient ruins seem to emerge from the green surrounding. Wonderful contrasting colors, partial reflection over water.
Have a nice sunday afternoon,
Ike
