Photographer's Note
I introduced you to the Afrikaanderwijk in my last upload, we'll continue our walk. This street and its adjacent streets are destined to be pulled down, the streetartists have taken over and made the decrepit buildings a canvas for their work. There are still 45 inhabited homes. This couple have been fighting to stay for over three years, the poster on their doorway reads: "We are fine living here. Don't pull us down. We want to stay" . I stood and spoke with them for some time, and although I sympathise with their plight I do not think they will win to stay, but hopefully be moved to an affordable area that is not on the list to be pulled down in the next five years.

Hello Elaine,
It's a very well structured composition with these brown frames of the windows and doors dividing the view into eye-catching sections. The colourful dummies to the right create a fine balance to the couple owning the place. Judging from the note they were aware of your camera and probably posing, but doing it in a relaxed and natural way which heightens my interest in the photo.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Elaine,
Sometimes friendship and family support is ignored, in preference for clearance.
This was a comment from Liverpool when poor quality housing was destined to be demolished. - 'Yes, many houses were lacking in basic amenities, but we didn’t feel deprived or ashamed because of where we lived. Rather, we felt supremely proud to be part of communities where doors were genuinely always open and where neighbours looked out for each other.'
In the light of this, some very successful improvements have been made in N.E.Lances, where old houses were improved rather than demolished and streets made one way, with trees as additions, to make them more friendly and play areas for children.
Your photograph could become journalistic records of this community and their fight for stability.
Well done,
Bev :-)

Goedenavond Elaine,
Goed snapshot, bedankt.

Hi Elaine
Forced moving often causes problems. A good photo of the couple but also of the great window display next door.
cheers

Hi Elaine
Thanks for explaining; An excellent street candid within the neighbourhood I particularly like the colourful dummies as cherry on the cake, counterpointing the couple in this appealing setting. Excellent observation and timing, getting them all in.
Best regards

Hello Elaine, a well balanced composition with the couple well placed.
Your notes are very informative.
I am intrigued with the shop window and those decorated mannequins.
Kind regards, Jean.
