Photographer's Note
This is part of my morning walk, along the Vlaardingen vaart (canal). Sometimes grey, cold with no colour, but other days a specular landscape that makes you feel good to be alive.
Expecting big snowstorm here tonight, so hoping for a few winter photos in the next few days.

Hello Elaine, the soft colours remind me very much of a painting; you have captured a lovely light.
Muted reflections and some nice ripples as the ducks swim by.
The house in the distance is a good focal point.

Goedenavond Elaine,
Uw foto lijkt meer on een zeer zachte schilderij.
Met echt van die oude gezellige kleuren.
Alles aanwezig, diepte, breedte, beide kanten het nodige contrast door de hout wallen.
Nog een zachte licht bewolkte hemel als toemaatje.

Hello Elaine,
Now and then there are photos on the site that immediately make me think of a 19th century painting, or even older, and this is one of them. The slightly pink tones of the clouds and their reflections in the calm water and the mild colours generally have a character of paintings. In spite of fine sharpness there is a softness than good painters can achieve.

Nice soft winter light and a good composition with these ducks at a good position.

As others have noted, this photo also reminds me of an old painting.
Beautiful soft tones, in the trees and plants as well as in the sky and water.
After the Netherlands, the cold wave will also reach Belgium and last for several days.

Beautiful pastel colours in the sky and also reflected in water. The brightly-lit house looks tiny in the frame but makes for a perfect point of focus in the centre of the frame.

Hello Elaine, We both showed yesterday the photos taken early in the morning. I like to get up early when all is so quiet. Marvellous composition. I like the calm atmosphere, smooth water surface and very nice warm colours.

Beautiful winter morning light by this wide canal. Warm toned light goes well with bare brown bushes. Water is almost like a mirror and reflections look good.
