The lookout tower in the Aekingerzand is centrally located in the 'De Kale duinen' area, which is part of the Drents-Friese Wold. From the tower you have a beautiful view of a large part of the drifting sand area.

Hello Elaine,
There are not so many dunes here, and they are not very bare either. Nature seems to be coming back, whether by its own strength or active reforestation I wouldn't know. It looks like an area where visitors should stick to prepared paths and not walk carelessly anywhere across the sensitive ground.

Goedenavond Elaine,
Het is voor mij echt verbazend, dat er bijna niemand niet wandelt in dit mooi natuurgebied, tenzij het niet mag natuurlijk.
Het meertje met zijn blauwe kleur zijn perfect welkom.
Zelf de bewolkte hemel maar wolken met een structuren alles mooi gefotografeerd. Bedankt
