Photographer's Note

Picture shot between Cadzand and Breskens in Zeeland, a small southern part of the Netherlands which is only connected by a tunnel to the rest of the Netherlands. This is the Westerschelde, the estuary of the Scheldt river, the vital connection linking Antwerp to the North Sea. In the background is Flushing, a city and port which looks a bit like Manhattan from a distance. The big ships head for Antwerp, the sailing boat probably for Breskens.

I liked the contrasts that day, e.g. the foreground has sunlight, the Flushing skyline not, the sailing boat is sunny, the container vessels not. The clouds provided for a dramatic sky.
