Photographer's Note
The so-called Begijnhof near Spui street in Amsterdam is one of only two remaining architectural ensembles of that kind in the Netherlands - most of them can be found in Belgium.
The beguines were unmarried women who lived a religious life in their community without being nuns or having taken the final vows. They relinquished profane property and were allowed to leave the community and build themselves normal lives including marriage.
Beguine houses are assembled around an inner courtyard which contains a chapel and an assembly room and is always divided from the rest of the town by a wall or moat.

Good morning Sven,
A part of Amsterdam less toured, but very beautiful with its architecture's jewel corner.
Well taken the photo from an effective spot, included the statue and employed the trees and canopy to frame well the scene.
Have a nice weekend,
Ike
