Photographer's Note
A view of a plantation from the Christofell National Park.
Curaηao was the capital of the Caribbean slave trade in the 17th century, and there used to be as many as one hundred Plantation Houses (Landhuis) on the island. Quite a lot for an island of only 171 square miles.
Hopefully this photo also portrays how the landscape of the islands differs from many of the other islands in the Caribbean region. Not many palm trees in sight, instead, there are Cacti and dessert shrubs.
