Photographer's Note

Nijmegen bridge glowing in the eveninglight of the last sun ray's at 16.07 hr today. (exif is wrong, still on summertime)
It connects the city of Nijmegen with the village Lent on the other side of the river Waal.
Originally opened in 1936, destroyed in 1940, re-opened in 1943.
Some interesting facts:
Nijmegen is the oldest city in the Netherlands, founded by the Romans over 2000 yrs ago. (Sorry Maastricht :p )
The river Waal is part of the Rhine-system which originates in Switzerland, and ends in the Northsea (Rotterdam).
It is the longest riversystem in Western Europe, the busiest waterway, passing the oldest Dutch city here in my picture, and ends in Europe's largest seaport, Rotterdam.

So, a crosspoint of quite a few unique features! :)

Nijmegen is known for its yearly 4-day's marching event, the 'Nijmeegse vierdaagse', which is joined by a week long 'summerfest' full of music, bands, theatre and a lot of party & drinking in the streets.

More about this event in my next posting.
