Photographer's Note
Inside the D.F. Wouda Pumping Station (D. F. Woudagemaal) in Lemmer. It's the biggest currently operational steam-powered pumping station in the world. Since 1998 the ir. D.F. Woudagemaal has been listed on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list.
It is used to pump out water from Friesland that is mostly below sea level to the Ijsselmeer. D. F. Wouda pumping station is only activated few time a year, after a heavy rain, when other pumping stations are not able to keep up with the task.
There are guided tours inside the station 2 times a day, but for some reason they are not very popular. That rainy Saturday afternoon I was the only visitor to the station. The station guide gave me a very interesting 2 hour long tour inside.
Seen in the photo are 4 oil boilers installed in 1967. Before that steam was produced by burning coal.

Hello Linas,
Interesting view and interesting note, it learns us a lot. I like the point of view putting in valor the oil boilers with a good sharpening on the second one. I am still impressed by the good level reached at 1600 iso on this view.
For sure as it is this photo is a little isolated to tell a story, but inserted with others it could produce a good reportage.
