I took this shot on my 1st day in Malta. It was taken during the 'Carnival ta Malta' in Valetta, the capital of Malta.
It has been celebrated in Malta since the arrival of the Knights of St. John in 1535, but some studies even date the first carnival revelry back to the year 1470. Up until 1751, carnival was an activity exclusive to Valletta. Nowadays, revellers gather in every corner of the islands during the five days preceding Ash Wednesday from Nadur in Gozo to Ghaxiaq in the south of Malta. One thing is for sure, the Maltese have had valid excuses to mark carnival for hundreds of years and the celebrations have come a long way since.
Beyond any doubt the centre of attraction of today's Maltese Carnival are the grand defiles of floats in the streets of Valletta and Floriana. Though the controversy over the restriction imposed by the authorities on the themes that can be represented in floats has marred the past few editions, the celebrations involving these often ingenious devices remain as colourful and popular as ever.
It typically includes masked balls, fancy dress and grotesque mask competitions, lavish late-night parties, a colourful, ticker-tape parade of allegorical floats presided over by King Carnival (Maltese: ir-Re tal-Karnival), marching bands and costumed revellers.
I'm not used to take photos of people (you can actually see this by my gallery), so please forgive me any weak sides on this one. Certainly all comments are more than welcome!

Piekny portret pieknej nieznajomej.Wspanialy stonowany w kolorach stroj modelki.
Ciekawa kompozycja,choc troszeczke spokoj burza te dwie postacie z tylu.Nie mniej jednak bardzo mi sie podoba.

Zdjęcie mocno symbolizujące dzisiejszy dzień. Pokazuje jedną z naszych kobiecych masek, za ktσrą lubimy się chować - Tajemniczość.
Dzięki za dedykacje, ale skoro to dla Pań to ja osobiście wolałabym jakiegoś "mena" na pierwszym planie, nie gdzieś tam schowanego w tle :);))
Ale Panowie to tak czasem właśnie mają, że dają kobietom prezenty z myślą o samych sobie :))))

To karnawal a nie DK, tu raczej by pasowala pani na traktorze :)))))
Mnie akurat ten dzien nie rajcuje bo kobiety s± dla mnie "kobietami" codziennie :)
Ale portrecik fajny, a smaczku mu dodaje ten przeuroczy pieprzyk.

cześć Darku, jak rozumiem, to jest prezent z okazji Dnia Kobiet, dziekuję bardzo za zyczenia! Zawsze myślała, ze to takie komuchowskie święto, traktowałam je raczej nieprzyjaźnie. A tu na TE proszę jak świętują. A zdjęcie bardzo fajne. tajemnicza nieznajoma, w pieknej masce z pawim piσrem, usmiecha sie do fotografa. Ładny strσj. Tak mi sie to kojarzy z Un ballo in maschera Verdiego.

Fajny kostium i modelka pod maska. Troche szkoda, ze musiales uzyc flesza no ale jesli swiatlo marne... Temat odpowiedni do okazji - 8 Marca. Karnawal jak widac na Malte tez zawital.

Witaj.
Fajnie umieściłeś ją w kadrze ,ekstra, szkoda tylko że ten chłopak w jaskrawej kurtce wszedł ci :-) bo zwraca na siebie uwagę, ale kompozycja fajna i kontrast.
