Photographer's Note
Restoration work on the 11th century Sveta Sofija church in Ohrid, regarded as the finest of several Byzantine churches in this city in western Macedonia.
Another view of the church can be seen in a workshop.

Hej Gert,
An interesting picture in many ways. A beautiful background landscape, an interesting building and some nice and eye-catching colours. But I definitely don΄t think that this scaffolding would have been approved by some Swedish Work Inspection authoriy. Don΄t they have any safety representatives here?

Hej Gert,
a very fine church with many details, and as a scaffolder i agree with Gunnar: This scaffolding is not OK ! It`s interesting to see the daily life of these men. I wonder if the work for different companies? 2 men in yellow and 2 men in blue..
A great daily life shot, Tfs!
Ha en trevlig Sφndag.

Hi, So they are really working here. Typical architecture of the Balkanian orthodox church. It is quite dangerous work - an accident can easily happen. Nice colours.

Hi Gert,
Sounds like a song your title, maybe I was thinking "The Yellow Brick Road.." by Elton John.
Another very nice daily life image of the construction worker laying the roof tiles. I This are not easy to do, and I try it, they break easily, especially if you have to go in the middle to fix one, you break a few a long the way. The guys in the yellow shirt do stand out very well, and there is a very friendly one too. thanks.

Great witness from Ohrid, Gert, the region that I know well. Your travel on the South is so worth with your Canon and with all your pictures from Albania, Macedonia or Serbia.
Near by Ohrid, on the mountains there are so attractive villages with archaic situations. Next time don't miss them.
Felicitations and friendship for you,
Branko

Hej Gert,
Great pov here displaying the hight and the beautiful surrondings in Ohrid. A new roof is a good start but it seems that they have a lot of work to complete the restauration..

Hello Gert,
I like this scene very much, it's great that the magnificent antique builing is being restored, even in this state its architecture is impressive. I like very much the way you filled the frame and the elegant perspective, the lovely details and the interesting people. You managed light and contrast very effectively, the shadows are as discreet as possible. The workshop picture is great too but the yellow shirts are irresistible. Congratulations and thank you! I have only one remark regarding your note. Macedonia is a large region in northern Greece and the name you used for FYROM creates confusion.
All the best, have a great evening,
Ourania

gert
we can see they are using a special modern material to protect the old interior of the church, nice the building is being preserved. we even can notice the relieves and adornments of the walls. the guy in yellow looks like claiming your attention.

Pozdrav.
Kao ucenik bio sam u Ohridu, ziveo sam u Kumanovu gde sam zavrsio osnovnu skolu.
Lepa stara arhitektura i trenutak sa radnicima na krovu, dobro pokazano sa lepim bojama, kontrastom i uhvacenim trenutkom.
Lep deo stare Crkve.
Radnici rade svoj posao.
Zelim vam lepo popodne, sve najbolje za vikend.
Paja.

Hello Gert,
I hope I was allowed to add a photo in the WS here.
This way you can see what the Saint Sophia Church looks like now (or at least in 2018).
The church has a wonderful interior with many frescoes from the 11th, 12th and 13th centuries.
I don't know why I don't have any pictures of the frescoes.
Probably it wasn't allowed to take pictures inside because apparently I don't even have any failed photos of it either...
I also found the exterior of Saint Sophia not easy to photograph.
The church was located in the middle of the busy old town but I didn't really find a suitable spot for a good general photo.
Actually, this church was not really far from the covered alley I showed recently. Strange but I can't find that covered alley on Google Map...
Can't Google Map look inside a covered place? :)
So again, you had the opportunity to show men at work.
Isn't it fun to watch people work?
Best regards, Paul
