Photographer's Note
The famous 13th century church of Sveti Jovan at Kaneo, situated above Lake Ohrid on the outskirts of Ohrid city in Macedonia. This is probably the most photographed building in all of Macedonia, but since 90 percent of the pictures seem to be taken from a hill to the right outside this photo, I decided to show it from another angle.

Hi Gert.Looks familiar. apart from the shot I posted earlier, I've got the traditional composition also with the same boats at bottom left (30 years ago!)which i might post later on.I do like the shimmering light and the crisp details. I am somewhat puzzled by the curving horizon and the solitary figure on the left. Regards. Klaudio.

Hej Gert,
it is always interesting to look from a different angle - even to look at the most famous objects and sights! I like the way the image consists of two "triangular" parts and represent a union of water and ground (rocks) :) Beautiful view! and a relaxed mood... I wish I could go to the sea now, but I can't :(
Does it only seem so to me, or is there really a slight curvature of the earth at the horizon?

Hi Gert.
Very nice landscape, this one. The exposure against the light is very good, and the detail is sharp and clear. What a beautiful position for this church. At first I did not even see the little coloured boats, but they make this photo even better, adding a delightful depth. I see Elena has noticed the curvature, which could be corrected in photoshop - go to Filter and then Distort then Lens Correction (That's if you have Photoshop!). Also, it's a little tilted, but that doesn't spoil the beauty of the picture at all.

i haven`t seen Lake Ohrid with my own eyes, but i admit that it looks intereting. Fine architecture located on a cliff, perfect for great photos. And it`s great to see this place from another Pov, as you say.

Hi gert, You had a wonderful trip in the places not much seen in TE. I have hears that the Ohrid lake is very beautiful but io had no accdasion to be there. Typical architectur of the Macedonian church. fantastic composition, I like the view of the man sitting on the rock over the lake.

A good idea to show an oft photographed building from the other side. I fact the stone path in the FG offers a good lead-in to the famous church. The frame is split in a diagonal with the blue waters of the lake offering good contrast. Like the boats sitting down there and also the person sitting on the edge of the cliff. Well done!

Hej Gert,
You have really found and great POV and the composition is excellent with the church to the right. I love the atmosphere created by haze of the the lake. Lovely colours and excellent sharpness. Like a few others I am puzzled by the tilting horizon line but like you say it probably a distortion (because of the wide angle). TFS and have a nice weekend!

Hej Gert,
I like this photo very much, especially for its colour tonalities. The composition is also pleasant with the diverse diagonals. The clarity of the foreground and main object is gradually changing nicely to the hazy blue of the ridges behind the lake. I do not see a curved horizon. It is a somewhat round lake anyway. :-) That "shelf" acting as a look-out point is an interesting detail. TFS!

What a spectacular church. I was here in 2003, with bad light and a rubbish camera, but you certainly made the most of your opportunity. Nice perspective. (The skyline seems a bit slanted though!)

Ce paysage est trθs beau et tu as bien su le mettre en valeur.
J'aime la chapelle qui fixe l'attention en haut ΰ droite. Le regard descend ensuite sur les cyprθs jusqu'ΰ la personne sur le rocher puis jusqu'aux barques pour remonter sur la gauche avec le lac et le ciel.
Tout est d'une grande qualitι !

This country has a long full name is the Former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia... Greece doesn't like an idea with using this region name.
Simple but interesting photo, good presentation of a local landscape,an interesting and funny note.

Hello Gert, I've visited this beautiful place in Ohrid in Macedonia but it's been long time ago..great souvenir picture from a truly magnificent place!! the church showing has fantastic wall paintings and artifacts and of course a magnificent view to the lake!

I presume the orthodox priests kept the usage of ancient greek to build temples in special scenic areas. this is fantastic. nice view of the lake, the slope and even the boats and the small personages lost in a corner. it isn't so usual to see images from this country.

So you also looked for a different angle to present the famous church :)
The difficulty is that during most of the day the sun is not in the best position to photograph this church but the result here is very good.
