‘View of Kratovo’
Kratovo (Macedonian: Кратово) in the northeast of the country is located in a crater of a dead volcano, 600 meters above sea level.
It is one of the oldest cities in the country.
There was already a settlement in Roman times and in the 16th century it was one of the most important mining centers of Ottoman Europe.
Although not on the beaten track by tourists, this little town has a lot of character.
Virtually all of its residents are ethnic Macedonians and Macedonian Orthodox Christians.

Hello Paul,
It's surprising that these are the first photos ever on TE from this town, which looks quite exciting. Or maybe you just found the only attractive photo angle. The WS shows that interesting photos were also possible in the streets. It's not common that garbage collectors ask to have their photo taken (I might have wanted a slight adjustment of the hues to make them less red faced). But I could have imagined any of these pictures as a main photo.

Thanks to you and TE, Paul, I now learn about this colorful rural town from a country we do not get many photos on the site.
main photo well chosen, though the three men on the WS posed for you is a kind of photo to upload as main as well in my humble opinion.

Hello Paul,
Your explorations brought you to a very interesting and beautiful place! Not many people can boast that they live in an extinct volcano!
Your viewpoint is excellent, using the stream as an angled guide to a strongly positioned bridge, whilst on opposing sides, we have greenery and pretty, red-roofed houses.
I like the posed photograph of the refuse workers. You can see their characters from their poses! Did they gesticulate a photograph or were you able to communicate verbally?

Het onderwerp kiest u zelf, maar de kwaliteit en kleuren zijn echt perfect.

L'inclusion du cours d'eau est un atout ΰ la composition. La prise de vue permet de voir les dιtails des immeubles. J'apprιcie le contraste entre les couleurs des toits et les couleurs des immeubles. Bonne journιe.

This is a very picturesque scene here. The river or a stream makes a nice feature in the foreground. The buildings rise above it and make an interesting amalgam, labirynth of structures to follow.
Great light, colors, clarity and sharpness.
I am still shocked that you didn't share photos from such an exotic trip for a very long time!

Great view of all the houses, and the small, stone bridge. I don't know if the river is this narrow at all points, but here it it very narrow, and it seems to disappear into the background.

Wonderful view of the city, located in a very intricate terrain on steep slopes, the river in the depths of this kind of canyon adds a lot of charm to the place, as well as the abundant nature.
The vertical panorama of the WS is fantastic and the group of workers very friendly.
Very pleasant coloring, which together with the good sharpness and optimal lighting, gives great quality to the image.
