Photographer's Note

This is one of a series of photographs I shot of a magnificent building called the Philharmonie.

Because of the extreme white predominantly present, it was hard to get the shot right without the whites overexposed. (-> too much for the standard autoprograms of the camera)

White balance was easy :-)

The shot was done manually using the spectral analysis of the camera.

I used a polarizing filter to bring out even more contrast which brought out the reflections from the windows of an adjacent building.

The challenge was not to loose the structure of the plates covering the left part of the building.

f/4 adds just enough depth of field for the subject to remain fully focused as the focus was set on the border of the shadow.

This building is also a challenge to photograph when skies are cloudy and the atmosphere foggy... Oh well that time of the year is coming soon again around this neck of the woods... :-)
