Photographer's Note
If you go to Vilnius and you tire of the tourist-frequented Old Town, and you want to see some of the "real Lithuania," head to Kalvariju market in the northern part of the city. There you will see scenes like this one--regular folks selling their wares. Vegatables, fruit, clothing, hardware, and household products are all there. But no tourist knick-knacks. The customers come mainly from the dozens of drab Soviet-era apartment blocks that surround the market. Some of the sellers are older women from the country who bring farm products to sell, like these two offering what appear to be berries. Other vendors are weathered men selling hardware, auto parts, even kitchen sinks. Whatever you need for basic living, you can probably find it at Kalvariju market.

Hi Ken,
There's a some time I don't check your gallery. Lot's of nice pictures I've not seem. This one quicks are mainly the lady's in the middle thoughtfull expression. The sun or her fece is naturally placing her on the focus. Nice daily life scene.

Hi Ken
I really like this slice of life capture. It's peaceful (appropriate for an away from the tourists shot). Excellent dof and POV here. The only thing that I would personally have done differently would have been to crop a little tighter: up from the base to the start of the white on the right hand pole and in fronm the left to just before the left hand pole. (But that is very subjective I think.)
To my mind, this image is vastly underrated!

Wonderful, human shot, Ken.
It is something heart breaking to see those old people sitting there to get some extra income. How much possibly that could be? But then, I know for sure, that there is another factor involved in the whole scenario - they try TO DO something...anything...to be useful, to take part in this grotesque dance of our lives, to show the world...Hey ! We are still here...Well and kicking.
