Photographer's Note

Vaduz Castle in Liechtenstein is the palace and official residence of the Prince of Liechtenstein. The castle gave its name to the town of Vaduz, the capital of Liechtenstein.

The castle was constructed as a fortress as early as the 12th century.The castle came into the ownership of the Princely Family in 1712 and the west wing served as the family's official residence until 1732. However, after that the building became increasingly dilapidated and fell into disrepair before being rebuilt and renovated between 1905 and 1912.Under Prince Franz Josef II the castle was extended and once again made fit for living. In 1939 the Prince moved in with his family and adopted Vaduz Castle as his official residence.

Hello Piotr,
The castle looks quite impressive with its many wings and high walls, especially from this low perspective. The green hillside and the blue sky surround the grey complex in a very attractive way. I like the strong colours and fine contrasts.

Hello Piotr,

You have shown the defensive capabilities of this castle, with its sheer walls and high location.
Though used now, as a residence, it still creates the wow factor as a spectacular castle!
Your viewpoint, making maximum effect of the walls, towering above the trees, creates this sense of strength.
It is a beautifully composed shot, with sharp details and a fine contrast.

Hi Piotr,
It is an impressive castle and probably the most interesting building in the whole country. Good sidelight and lovely summer weather.
Years ago I was hiking on those hills and at some point I took a wrong turn on a path. I ended up on the courtyard of that castle. As it's a private residence I was clearly somewhere I wasn't supposed to be.

Beautiful view upwards of this castle with its many windows above the high defensive walls overlooking the green ravine.
Since this picture is taken in Vaduz, I can only conclude that this small capital has a fantastic green environment.

Hello Piotr,
The castle built on a prominent location, but as far as photography - it divides well between forest and sky, green and blue.
Fine shot while looking upwards, favorable light enhanced the details of its high and massively built walls.

Nicely composed shot with this imposing castle perched on the side of a steep hill. I like the way the upward viewpoint shows the dominance of the castle on the hillside. The vibrant greens are a nice contrast to the textured and muted tones from the building. Fine details of the structure and the surrounding vegetation.

I know the Fόrstentum Liechtenstein is one of the smallest countries of Europa, I also know the famouse worldwide brand HILTI from this country. Hmm, unfortunately I don't remember other information about.

Hello Piotr,

A good upward pov on this Liechtenstein castle, with a nice forest setting. Excellent sharpness and good colour, balance and saturation. The red roofs contrast well against the blue sky and the flag provides context. Punchy lighting contrasts and the diagonal axis of the terrain and the horizon add dynamism. Tfs!

Hello Piotr,
although in Europe, Liechtenstein is a mysterious country for me, I don't hear about it very often. I like very much this presentation, it's interesting and effective, despite the challenging angle of the light. The castle is well placed in the frame, sharp and majestic, the diagonals of the landscape match well those of the architecture. The green and blue surroundings are very pleasing.
