Photographer's Note
A sunrise over the Val d'Orcia region in Tuscany. This photograph was taken from the hills near San Quirico d'Orcia, about twenty minutes after the sunrise. I was amazed by the colors of the hills in the background. The fog in the valley was welcome to give a surreal ambience.
Technical details :
Canon EOS 5D, EF 70-200mm f4, tripod and circular polarizer.

The light is so wonderful here and the whole image has a painting like quality to it which I find very nice. Beautiful depth and layers to the landscape and the mist adds that special atmosphere.

The saturation of green and the light soften by the fog is pleasing to the eye, the alternating shadows emphasize a dynamism in this picture. Excellent shot, very impressive.

Seems like you had to boost both contrast and saturation
to get the desired effect...
But what really strucks me is the layout of the hills,
beautiful side-light revealing the natural curves of the
terrain and that heavenly lit mist crawling down the valley.
