Photographer's Note
A Van de Graaff generator is an electrostatic machine which uses a moving belt to accumulate very high voltages on a hollow metal globe. The potential differences achieved in modern Van de Graaff generators can reach 5 megavolts. Applications for these high voltage generators include driving X-ray tubes, accelerating electrons to sterilize food and process materials, and accelerating protons for nuclear physics experiments. The Van de Graaff generator can be thought of as a constant-current source connected in parallel with a capacitor and a very large electrical resistance.

This beautiful old machine is a monument to the technology, it's located inside the scientific area where I work.
No DRI process.

Hallo Vinicio!
You show us a really interesting and beautiful technical plant. Even if it's surely built adequate to it's purpose it has wonderful forms and looks a bite like borrowed from a science-fiction film. Thank you for showing!
Greetings from more than stormy and rainy Germany; it's nearly threatening.

Hi Vinicio,
This is one excellent sharp shot great use of light with superb colour, and what a beautiful piece of machinery, I've seen some really nice machines with my husband, who is very interested in machines, but this has got to be in the top ten, well done indeed Vinicio.

What is really amazing in this picture is its sharpness. Of course, the light control is first class, the colours superb and the compo excellent. Well done.

Ciao Vinicio,
Quite an interesting structure, I had no idea of what it could be except a rock band of the 70's ;-)
A good vertical framing and a photo where you managed to keep the annoying reflections to the minimum.
Buona giornata,

notte
Giuseppe
