I think the photos of the churches can be boring and never give the true optical effect that one experiences visiting them, however this gem deserved the TE stage.
In the early 1100s, a terrible plague epidemic spreads across Europe, causing deaths and desolation. The inhabitants of Bergamo then decide to ask the Madonna for help: if she will protect them from contagion she will dedicate a church to her as a thank you. And since the people of Bergamo are people of their word, in 1137 they followed up the vote and built the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore on the Piazza del Duomo in the Upper Town.
They go big: the church immediately reveals its splendor and is further embellished in the following centuries. Frescoes, stuccos, tapestries and wooden inlays made to a design by the famous artist Lorenzo Lotto today decorate the interior of the building.
The Basilica is particular because it is characterized by the lack of a central entrance and the facade, which formed a single wall with the adjacent building.
Penso che le foto delle chiese possano essere noiose e non rendono mai il vero effetto ottico che si vive visitandole, comunque questo gioiello meritava il palcoscenico di TE.
Nei primi anni del 1100, una terribile epidemia di peste dilaga in Europa provocando morti e desolazione. Fanno le cose in grande: la chiesa rivela fin da subito il suo splendore e viene ulteriormente abbellita nei secoli successivi. Affreschi, stucchi, arazzi e tarsie lignee realizzate su disegno del famosissimo artista Lorenzo Lotto decorano oggi l’interno dell’edificio.
La Basilica θ particolare perchι caratterizzata dalla mancanza di un ingresso centrale e della facciata, che costituiva una parete unica con il palazzo attiguo.

Wow, this is a very rich and so impressive interior! All three photos are great. Each inch of the wall surface is tightly covered with rich decorations. One can stare at it forever. I love sitting in places like that for longer to contemplate details and feel the beauty of it.

Hello Luciano,
I'm afraid that no grand churches will be built to honour the Madonna (or any Government) for stopping Covid-19. But maybe it would be an interesting idea, because so far vaccinations have not stopped this plague.
I agree that sometimes photos from inside churches can get boring. It's very hard to capture the overwhelming impression some churches (or mosques) make when you are inside them. But you managed quite well with these photos. The main picture shows us the incredibly well decorated ceiling, while both WS give us a good idea of the spacious impression made with the help of the columns and floor and benches. Everything captured with your usual sharpness and fine exposure.

That is quite fantastic interior. Just about every square inch is decorated with beautiful detail. And your workshops prove that. Wide angle was essential to get a good idea of this place.

Ciao Luciano, direi che anche grazie ai due graditi WS sei riuscito a rendere bene la magnificenza di questa chiesa, a mio parere le foto degli interni di architetture non sono mai noiose, anche se θ vero che θ spesso difficile rendere le sensazioni che si hanno dal vivo, tre gran belle foto con splendida nitidezza, ottima esposizione e magnifici dettagli, bravo, buona Befana, ciao Silvio

Le spectacle qui est offert par les peintures est impressionnant. La prise de vue permet de voir les dιtails du plafond de la basilique de Santa Maria Maggiore. La lumiθre fait ressortir les couleurs. Bonne journιe.

amazing interior, in some aspect remind us precious porcelains and in other side looks like golden frames, many details in each corner. nice the WS too. when I will post the interior of churches in state of goiαs you will see as poor they were, but what effort they did to copy the european ones, being in the most remote spots of western civilization.

Hello Luciano, walking into this church you must feel overwhelmed by so much amazing decoration. Your three shots give us a taste of how it must feel to be in this situation.
Once again looking at the age of the church, can you imagine how the people of the 12 th century must have felt at seeing inside this church.

you are correct, to fully appreciate the interior of these wonderful pieces of architecture, you have to see it for yourself. Photos try but never fully deliver, but what they can do, is inspire people to go and visit. don't get me wrong, this is a sweet photo and an attractive composition, I would have posted it too. cheers

Quelles magnifiques dιcorations, trθs bien prιsentιes avec une bonne nettetι et une excellente luminositι qui permet d'admirer tous les dιtails. Bon option de cadrage avec cet angle de vue car il est difficile dans cette situation de prendre l'ensemble, lΰ, c'est bien vu et tu nous ιvites de nous todre le cou en levant la tκte vers ces plafonds, merci cu partage.

There are lot of beautiful artworks having exposure on this fabulous ceiling and you managed to display these dexterously to catch the attention by a stylish diagonal that, according to your note, makes us forget the modest entrance on the premises.
I appreciate the dimmed ceiling spotlights that leave all the limelight to such an elaborated delight for the eyes!

Nota molto interessante su questa Chiesa. Θ davvero un posto pieno di storie.
Quello che hai detto sulle foto interne di Churches ha perfettamente senso. Visito spesso qualche Chiesa davvero grandiosa e sontuosa, ma quando guardo le foto mi sembra di non essere riuscito a ritrarre la grandiositΰ del luogo.
Comunque la tua foto era molto bella e sorprendente, la pittura decorativa di questa Chiesa θ davvero ricca di dettagli.
