Photographer's Note
Archangel Michael
The parish church of Beroide, dedicated to St. Michael the Archangel, presumably dates back to the first half of the 13th century and has since been remodeled several times. It rises within the town's defensive walls, along the main street that crosses it. Noteworthy is the exterior which uses a polygonal tower of the castle as an apse and bell tower. A small door hidden behind the altar leads to the polygonal apse of the original church, connected by a staircase to the belfry above and illuminated by a trefoil lancet window on the left side.
The room is completely decorated with interesting votive frescoes, placed on two registers, dating from the first half of the 14th century to the second half of the 15th century.

It's a fine church and the photo is well taken, considering the slightly difficult sidelight. The most interesting detail is that normal family life seems to be going on in the house attached to the church. The WS show that the seriously deteriorated frescos must have been beautiful long ago.

Lovely little church. You had a challenging light there with only one side of the tower in the direct sunlight but you have coped very well with the shaded areas. The blue sky adds a nice touch.

A lovely old parish church still being used for its original purpose and so well maintained as seen from this angle. The colour brings up the textures very well whereas contrast to blue sky is seamless.
