Monumental nativity scene
The largest life-size monumental nativity scene in Europe is located in Spoleto. The work made in terracotta, wood and papier-mβchι by the master of crib art Mario Agrestini will be open to the public at the Auditorium della Stella in Spoleto until January 14, 2022.
The church, commonly called Santa Maria della Stella but consecrated to Saints Stefano and Tommaso, renovated to a design by Giovan Battista Dotti between 1786 and 1793, is one of the best examples of the neoclassical architecture of the late eighteenth century in Spoleto architecture. The interior is characterized by a large luminous hall divided by a single order of pilasters that mark recessed niches, where once there were altars covered in marble.
The perspective directs the interest towards the presbytery and the curvilinear apse, decorated with refined stucco decorations and a singular scenographic effect. The architectural structures of the whole complex suffered serious damage in the earthquake of 1895: the spire of the church bell tower, which had become unsafe, was demolished. The altars, a fourteenth-century cross, shaped and painted attributed to the Master of Cesi and some eighteenth-century canvases by Stefano Parrocel (Incredulitΰ di S. Tommaso of 1758) and Jacopo Alessandro Calvi that adorned the room, were later transferred to the Palazzo's picture gallery Municipal and in the monumental complex of San Nicolς. The Cross currently (2015) is exhibited in the rooms of the National Museum of the Duchy of Spoleto.
The church has been restored and is used for shows, concerts and cultural events.

The third well taken photo from this impressive monumental nativity scene. This one is interesting for looking almost like a street market in the Middle East even today. It's a fascinating work and a lovely photo.

into my mind!!!!then the life
was too simple and the conditions
of living so delicate these days!!!!!
