Photographer's Note
Venice Carnevale, but apparently no fun for these two ladies. One at least had nodded in the direction of the general merriment by donning a small mask, but still didn't seem able to get in the mood. And they both appeared to be swathed in the skins of dead animals. Still they attracted my lens by their idiosyncratic and disparaging looks. Riva degli Schiavoni, San Marco, by the way.

Hi Will,a very original photo from the Venice Carnival, sad as it was this year with the city deserted because of the virus. The lady on the left is very reminiscent of my mom, who died 7 years ago, same fur and same hairstyle, I really appreciate the composition, sad but symbolic of the moment we are living. Have a nice Sunday and thanks,Luciano

Great observational shot. They certainly don't look to be in the mood for Carnevale! The close cropping works really well.

Hello Will,
This is a rather funny shot, looking like from a movie. I wonder by whom. Could Fellini have made a satire of upper class people being uncomfortable in the modern democratic society? Doesn't the white haired lady look a bit like Mastroianni with a wig and a lot of makeup?
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Will,
It seems an additional Lady with mask and nice mink, notwithstanding her age!
Your picture is nice made.
Composition and presentation are very well.
Very well done, TFS.
Best regards,
John

Hello Will,
Yes, these two ladies, looking rather posh and quite refined seem to be somewhat disapproving of the merriment going on around about them. They might well have been more content sitting at home in their own parlours sipping gin but they have at least provided you with some fine camera fodder.
A very well seen and captured image and, using your long lens you have caught this pair of gentlewomen crisply and sharply against a nicely out of focus and non-distracting background. Good light and colours too.
Lovely!
Take care and stay safe.
Kind Regards,
John.

hello Will, Interesting scene from the Venice Carnivale. they look very elegant. Maybe American tourists, or German? The Carnivale must be a fantastic experience but on the other hand, the crowds would be unbearable for me. And the masks are beautiful but somehow scary as if the danger was lurking behind the corner. Excellent composition.
Stay safe

Hello Will,
Your photo made me remember Maggie Smith from Downton Abbey: she was never amazed during the six seasons and wore this judging facial expression all the time. - Oh, these youngs nowadays! Back in my time it was...

Joking apart, you caught the moment perfectly and isolated them from the bg well.
Best Wishes,
Gy.

Hi Will
Well spotted. I thought that most people had either got rid of their furs or hidden them in embarrassment. Great street photo of the grumpy pair.
Cheers

Hi Will,
well seen and taken, interesting scene with these two portraits, good sharpness ... actually with the pandemic period, the mask is not for eyes but for noise and mouth ! Tfs.

Hi Will
Interesting encounter: The light quality - being the best element of this capture and that Funny Sunday Face as they're totally unaware of your lens! Lovely image of grandmas who are still in that festive mood and totally not out of place though. They still are adorable but not so little anymore with that Venetian mask. ha-ha. Nice street candid of a different kind and the sad thing is neither of them need any mask at all....
Best regards

Hello Will,
I smiled with pleasure, when I saw this!
One of the ladies is a dead ringer for one that I know and the expression is exactly the same!
It should have been a fun day but you spotted two ladies, not following the mood! Possibly critical of those who were!
It's such a good photograph, the ladies well placed in the frame, sharp against a useful oof b/g.
WE love scrutinising them, without their knowledge!!
How are things in your area of the country?
Keep safe,
Bev :-)

Hi Will
They seem lost, they came from a big boat ans were surprised by the Carnivale feast, at least disapproving the city streets behaviour.
Let's have fun!!
Cheers
