Photographer's Note

Anyone who goes to Campo de Fiori is attracted by the statue overlooking it all : Its Giordano Bruno (1548-1600). The statue was erected by Ettore Ferrari in 1889.
A Dominican friar and philosopher, G.Bruno demonstrated the relevance of an infinite universe that has neither center nor circumference, with an infinite number of stars and worlds identical to ours (Cosmic Pluralism)
He proclaimed that Jesus-Christ is not God, but a wise prophet, that the Holy Spirit is the soul of this world, and that Satan will eventually be saved.
Formally accused of atheism and heresy by the Inquisition, he was sentenced to be burned alive on the site of "Campo de' Fiori".
He is one of the martyrs of "The Freedom of thought".

Sorry about the television antennas and the garbage on the base. Unfortunately, its often like that on a market place :-(
The plastic roofs on the left and at the bottom are from the market stalls.

WS2 A close-up on the face.
WS1 A view of the colourful market stalls
