Photographer's Note
Bevagna θ un comune di 5.024 abitanti della provincia di Perugia, un tempo nota per le telepregiate che vi si producevano, tanto da essere chiamate "bevagne". Θ inserita tra i Borghi piω belli d'Italia. Municipio romano (Mevania), conobbe una certa prosperitΰ durante l'epoca imperiale. Sembra sia stata anche sede vescovile attorno al III-IV secolo. Piω volte andς soggetta a saccheggi e distruzioni: nel 1152 Federico Barbarossa la espugnς e incendiς, nel 1249 fu distrutta dal Conte d'Aquino e nel 1375 da Corrado Trinci. Palazzo dei Consoli: risalente al 1270, θ una struttura caratterizzata da una ampia scalinata esterna. Attualmente ospita un teatro ottocentesco.
Piazza Silvestri: θ tra le piω importanti piazze medioevali della regione.
S.Michele: costruita verso la fine del XII secolo dai maestri Binello e Rodolfo, che sono citati da una iscrizione posta all'ingresso. La monumentale facciata θ di stile romanico. Il campanile a forma di cuspide θ stato realizzato successivamente.
S.Silvestro: ultimata il 1195; viene considerata uno dei capolavori di Binello.
Bevagna is a town and comune in the central part of the Italian province of Perugia, (Umbria), in the flood plain of the Topino river.
Bevagna is 25 km (15 mi) SE of Perugia, 8 km west of Foligno, 7 km north-north-west of Montefalco, 16 km south of Assisi and 15 km (9 mi) north-west of Trevi. It has a population of c. 5,000, with the town of Bevagna proper accounting for about half of that. The city was originally an Etruscan-Oscan settlement. Around 80-90 BC it became a Roman municipium, called Mevania. In the 3rd-4th centuries AD it was probably an episcopal see and, after the Lombard conquest, the seat of a gastald in the Duchy of Spoleto. After the year 1000 it was a free commune. In 1152 Frederick Barbarossa set it on fire. In 1249 it was again destroyed by the Count of Aquino. In 1371-1439 it was ruled by the Trinci family. Later it was part of the Papal States until the unification of Italy.

Hi Giorgio,
Great athmosphere in your photo.
Good natural framing of the passage.
There is a bit haze in the image, it gives part of the pleasant athmosphere I think, but you could process it away if you want. Hope you don't mind me trying it to see if the atmosphere is the same...

Hi Giorgio,
Very atmospheric indeed. Not every back alleys can offer such a great view with nice details from another era... There is a slight fog in the air that provides an additional layer of interest; Hollywood movies are using dry ice hazers to achieve that nice effect that you caught naturally!! It goes so well with the architecture and light conditions.
I also like how the lamp is detaching from the background, exactly because of that fog further away in the scene.

You are so right, Giorgio, it's 'atmosphere'. Your title sums it up perfectly. Such a subtle photo with everything subdued. Fine and elegant details, like the lamp and the roof tiles, the green window shutters. And just the slightest hint of mist or haze. All suggesting maybe melancholy, maybe nostalgia, maybe time standing still.

apparentemente una semplice ma in realtα una foto molto raffinata con sfumature fine. Mi piace come partendo d' un centrale punto chiaro i colori diventano continuamente piϊ scuri. E l' atmosfera - stupenda!

Ciao Giorgio. Eh vecchia volpe! Troppo facile ammirare l'atmosfera senza aver prima apprezzato la grande costruzione e l'ineguagliabile/delicato gioco di luci e ombre. Nonostante l'HDR hai ricreato fedelmente luci e colori. Io c'ero e lo posso testimoniare!
