Purple flowers have always been a favorite of butterflies, like this species, as well as lavender, thistles and alfalfa. Here we see one of the largest European butterflies at work, an Ipchlides podalirius that surely many of you know and have seen.
Da sempre i fiori viola sono tra i preferiti delle farfalle, come questa specie, ed anche la lavanda, i cardi e l'erba medica. Qui vediamo all'opera una delle farfalle europee piω grandi, un Ipchlides podalirius che sicuramente in tanti di voi conoscono e hanno visto.

You are in a fantastic "wave" of butterfly photos. This is another impressive view of a beautiful insect with its wings perfectly spread out. Yellow and black against pink against green create a very eye-catching picture, and of course it is perfectly sharp.

Seeing this large and beautiful butterfly from this angle makes me realise that predators may interpret it as something quite different! Maybe a creature with horns!

Hello Luciano, I looked in my book about butterflies to discover that this particular butterfly is scarcely seen in the UK, but is more common than the Common Swallowtail in most parts of Europe.
This is a beautiful shot, its' wings spread wide so that we can see the colours and pattern very clearly. The flowers contrast in colour and texture. The shallow depth of field is excellent.

You have produced some wonderful butterfly images recently but this one is quite spectacular. Colours and sharpness are excellent. I have never seen this butterfly, not sure if they are here in the UK

Beautiful capture of the butterfly! You have captured it well in a nice "pose". Great background too.
I have 9 bushes of lavender in front of my house but they are not blooming yet because the weather has been very dry recently, even grass has dried out completely. However, when it blooms there are almost exclusively bumble bees coming to it. Maybe there are no butterflies living locally here :)

Perfect photo with this beautiful butterfly with that curious striped, it is also surprising how its wings form a perfect curve, the flowers that dot the field give a nice touch of warmer color.
A magnificent color that gives a lot of chromatic richness to the image.

Here the swallowtails seem to favour citrus trees. A superb macro zoom of this colourful butterfly with good sharpness and dof. Tfs!
