Photographer's Note
The Rocca di Bergamo is located in the upper part of the city on the hill of Sant'Eufemia, from which it dominates, to the south, the lower city and the surrounding plain while to the north it overlooks the crown of the Orobie. The construction of the fortress began in the same year of the donation of Bergamo to the king of Bohemia, 1331. The works were conducted under the coordination of Guglielmo di Castelbarco, vicar of the king, were continued by the Visconti, after the ephemeral experience, about 20 months, of Giovanni del Luxembourg was closed by the Visconti arms, and completed by Azzone Visconti in 1336.
The Viscontis added fortification works that increased its defensive function both against external and internal enemies and their possible ambitions for rebellion: the castle as a defense but also as an instrument of repression and control of the territory. Since May 7, 2004, the building inside the keep, formerly the home of the Venetian grenadiers, houses the current Historical Museum of Bergamo, while the square in front is the site of celebratory events.
The Rocca, due to its elevated position, and particularly the keep of the keep, from which you can enjoy a beautiful 360-degree view of the plain and the Orobie, are destinations of considerable tourist flow.
La Rocca di Bergamo si trova nella parte alta della cittΰ sul colle di Sant'Eufemia, da cui domina, verso sud, la cittΰ bassa e la pianura circostante mentre verso nord guarda la corona delle Orobie. La costruzione della rocca iniziς lo stesso anno della dazione di Bergamo al re di Boemia, 1331. I lavori furono condotti sotto il coordinamento di Guglielmo di Castelbarco vicario del re, furono proseguiti dai Visconti, dopo che l'effimera esperienza, circa 20 mesi, di Giovanni del Lussemburgo era sta chiusa dalle armi viscontee, e ultimati da Azzone Visconti nel 1336.
I Visconti aggiunsero delle opere di fortificazione che ne aumentarono la funzione difensiva sia contro nemici esterni sia contro quelli interni e le loro eventuali velleitΰ di ribellione: il castello come difesa ma anche come strumento di repressione e di controllo del territorio. Dal 7 maggio 2004 l'edificio all'interno del mastio, giΰ alloggio dei granatieri veneziani, ospita l'attuale Museo Storico di Bergamo, mentre il piazzale antistante θ sede di manifestazioni celebrative.
La Rocca, per la sua posizione elevata, e particolarmente il torrione del mastio, da cui si gode una bellissima vista a 360 gradi sulla pianura e sulle Orobie, sono mete di un notevole flusso turistico.

Your photograph clearly shows the imposing might of this castle. Its sturdy walls, offering no footholds, looks in very good condition, exhibiting clearly against the blue hour sky.
This building was clearly for defence, there is little evidence of windows on these outer faces.

Lovely late blue hour capture. The sky has a nice gradient of dark blue tone from left to the right side.
The walls contribute an interesting geometry while around we see some charming decorations like the yucca plans or gate.
