This is an archival photo (scan from negative), which I took almost 20 years ago in pre-digital times in Rome. The picture presents a small fragment of the Basilica Papale di Santa Maria Maggiore. It is one of the four basilicas owned by Vatican. Meaning that even though the land belongs to Italy, the territory has a special status similar to consulates of other countries. Rome is in my opinion the most beautiful city in the world as measured by number of the places which can cause jaw-dropping. The basilica was not lit at night but I still like the effect with the fool moon in the sky.

my hotel was near this basilica and it was the first monument I visited in the famous town. the image is something blue but it has a marvelous quality with the lights in shape of star and the moon.

A good night photo of this famous and impressive basilica in Rome. Good sharpness for the building itself, while some of the trees add a nice contrast with the blur. Fine lighting too and a special colour in the sky.

Like you, I loved Rome, though it took me much longer to see it than you did!
I didn't immediately recognise this as a scanned photograph! It looks like a very atmospheric, early twilight scene, where the artificial lights have just become illuminated and resemble stars, sparkling around the basilica. The moon makes a nice balance with the artificial lights.

Mariusz, the light is well managed and the full moon is included on the right. That basilica has a splendid dome surmonted by a cross. Nice architectural details. Good scan quality, fine colors, regards.

Nietypowe 10 ramienne gwiazdki utworzyly ci sie po domknieciu przyslony.
To zalezy chyba od ilosci listow przyslony z tego co kojarze.
