Photographer's Note

click on Fanad lighthouse below to see the Beta version, the rocks are much sharper and clearer.

Fanad Lighthouse.

Donegal is such a beautiful area of Ireland's coastline, its such a shame that by luck when we arrived the weather was quite stormy and not the best for taking photos.

For this photo, I wanted to keep it as original as possible, I didn't want to add much in the way of colour or lighting. What you see is what you get.

It was extremely stormy here, I had to use a tripod to get the 4 second long exposure. Even with the tripod it was hard keeping the camera straight, it was so windy. To make things even more difficult was the rain that was coming down. I had to keep wiping raindrops off the camera lens.

One funny moment was when I was setting up my tripod, holding the umbrella over my head, it literally blew apart in my hands. It broke in half by the wind! lol The folding part of the umbrella flew off into the ocean behind me, leaving me only with the handle in my hand! Now THATS windy.

I went back to the car twice, trying to wait out the rain and wind. I went back because the weather wasn't going to settle, I would have been waiting for hours. Thats when I got this shot.

Hope you don't mind the dullness of colour, the lighting wasn't the best, but I do like the result of the long exposure.

thanks for looking
