Photographer's Note

This is one of my favourite places in Donegal. It's a little place on the River Finn near the small Gaeltacht town of Cloghan. During summer, you can see the salmon leaping. It really is something to behold.

As I mentioned, Cloghan (An Clochan) is a tiny town on the Finn River. It is in the Gaeltacht region of Donegal, where Irish Gaelic is spoken. A recent survey had nearly 40% of Cloghan's population speaking Gaelic. Anglers pay a lot of money to fish for salmon here, and as much as I understand fishing for food, fishing for sport - particularly of these magnificent creatures - leaves me cold.

This particular spot is not easy to find. If you ever venture in these parts of Donegal and want to know where it is, just contact me and I can draw you a map.
