Photographer's Note

This is a view of the Dettifoss waterfall in Iceland.

Given the difficult lighting conditions, I took two different exposures, one for the sky (F18, 1/80s) and one for the land and water (F18, 1/25s) and combined them manually as layers in Photoshop.

General info on Dettifoss
The Dettifoss is a waterfall located in northeastern Iceland, not far from Mύvatn. It is situated on the Jφkulsα α Fjφllum river, which flows from the Vatnajφkull glacier and collects water from a large area in north-east Iceland. It is reputed to be the most powerful waterfall in Europe, having a flow variously estimated at between 200 and 500 cubic metres of water per second, depending on the season and the summer ice melt. The falls are 100 m wide and have a drop of 44 m down to the Jφkulsαrgljϊfur canyon.
