Day 2 - Reykjavik - Vik
View on Road 1 near crossing with F243 close to Skogar in the south of Iceland. Road 1 (ήjσπvegur 1 in icelandic) is the main road of Iceland. It rings the island on 1,339 kilometres. It is popular with tourists because it deserves a lot of touristic attractions. But it is probably popular too because it is made-up on its most part ! In many areas of Iceland, in particular when you get away from Reykjavik area, the road network is mainly made of tracks, which are not very good for cars health (and that's probably the reason why rent a car in Iceland is very expensive). So if you want to see some areas of the country (in particulier the inlands) you have to rent a 4WD car. You understand now why travelling in Iceland is so expensive ?
I could hardly choose between this picture and a similar one token at the same place. You can see it as workshop.

Salut Olivier,
belle compo avec des courbes qui amθnent de la dynamique. J'aime bien aussi l'ajout du panneau routier qui apporte une touche de couleur supplιmentaire (c'est d'ailleurs pour ηa que je prιfθre celle-ci au WS). Ceci dit, je trouve ηa trop vide. Y avait-il moyen d'attendre un peu pour qu'un vιhicule/marcheur ou autre passe et vienne remplir le cadre?

Bonjour Olivier,
Je prιfθre nettement cette photo ΰ celle du WS car elle est plus dynamique avec la courbe de la route et ce panneau jaune.
La note sur les routes islandaises est intιressante.

Thanks for sharing your Iceland photos. I haven't seen a picture of the roads there before and your note was useful. Macjake and I are thinking about going to Iceland next year, maybe in August (?). Not sure yet when would be best. How long did you go for? Anyway, I like how you presented the curve of the road towards the side of your photo. The greens are naturally saturated - not too much. Add to that a beautifully blue sky with wispy clouds = a winning photo!
