Photographer's Note
Luciano wrote that he was bored with the Notre Dame pictures. So I return to Iceland.
The Blue Lagoon is one of Iceland's most popular attractions, and it's is little wonder as to why. The beautiful milky-blue water is unlike anything else found on earth, and makes a stark contrast to the surrounding black lava field and its creeping grey moss. It sits at 39° year-round, making it the perfect temperature for bathing. Aided by world-known media outlets—such as the National Geographic that named it one of the top 25 Wonders of the World, and Condι Nast Traveller awarding it one of the top 10 spas in the world—the Blue Lagoon is now internationally famous and on the top of many bucket-lists around the world. In fact, the Blue Lagoon has now become so popular that in order to get there you will need to book your entry days or even weeks in advance. The Blue Lagoon history dates back to 1976 when it formed next to the geothermal power plant, Svartsengi. Contrary to many people's belief, the lagoon is not a natural hot spring but a pool created by a man-made structure. It is, in fact, waste-water from the power plant, that is drilling for steam and hot water.
Worry not, however; the water is completely clean and does not contain any chemicals, only natural minerals that have proven to be very good for people's skin. Since the water is continually streaming into the lagoon, all the water is renewed in 48 hours, making sure it stays clean.

It sounds inviting but there is one unpleasant thing; the tickets are very expensive - 85 euros. I found it too much and instead, I bathed for free in the hot river. It was possible just to see the part of the lagoon (not the spa), the milky water looks really unusual.

Thank you Malgo for your informative notes, I was unaware of the BLue Lagoon until today.
As you said, the blue waters contrast strongly with the black rocks surrounding it.
Warm water and snow on the mountains!
Regards Jean.

Hello Malgo,
A great view across the beautiful water of the famous Blue Lagoon. The contrast with the dark banks is very appealing as we you say. The lighting added a wonderful mood as well.

Hello Malgo,
I echo Luciano's sentiments, you can have too much of a good thing ;-) Excellent capture of this desolate but rather beautiful landscape. The milky water looks like clouds, I feel if I stepped in I would just disappear. I also agree 85 euro is a bit steep for a hot bath.

Hello Malgo,
I hate when certain museums and churches and other places get so popular that you have to plan your visit long ahead. Another reason to avoid this blue lagoon would of course be the price. I had no idea it was so expensive. I would much rather spend 85 euros (and probably a lot more) at a first class restaurant in Reykjavik. At least you got this photo, and it looks fascinating, but couldn't you get in the water for free here? It looks abandoned.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Malgo,
The length of the lagoon is giving depth to the composition. It is well framed by the mountains. The point of view is shoing the movement of the water of the ble lagoon. Have a nice day.

Hello Malgo,
The information about the lagoon was most interesting and added to my appreciation of the photograph.
I have heard about this place for the first time, today.
It strikes me that Iceland, in general, is quite unlike anywhere else on Earth.
Have a really happy Easter w/e,
Bev :-)

Dear Malgo,
I see you are back to the frozen land again. 85 euros? Gees, I wouldn't take a bath too!
Best Wishes,
Gy.

Malgorzata, the pool water looks icy to all appearances but it is actually hot. 85€ is too expensive i think too to only bath in the hot water. Good contrast between the black lava rocks on the shore and the sky blue water. Instructive photo note

Witaj Malgo
I think I prefer the blue lagoons of the South Pacific for swimming, but for sure this is still very nice to look at. Good sharpness and the snow capped bg hills add depth and layering. Tfs!
