Eruption on Eyjafjallajokull 7
An eruption began in South Iceland in late evening of 20th March 2010 at the Eyjafjallajφkull volcanic system.
Of course I went there asap.
I was able to be on the site twice, March 27 and 30. I went there using an arctic truck driving over the Myrdalsjokull glacier (1493 m high). It is a 4 to 5 hours drive.
This picture was taken on March 30 at 7:54 PM with a 500mm at 1/4000 to get the details of the flow up in the air.
Since yesterday the eruption of Mount Eyjafjallajokull created a volcanic ash cloud over Northern Europe has caused severe disruption of flights in Northern Europe. Up to 800 people were forced to evacuate and some flights over Norway were grounded after Iceland’s second volcano eruption in less than a month melted part of a glacier and caused heavy flooding on Wednesday.

Hello Michel,
Abstract expressionism in nature, beautiful, but earlier today...
"Sorry sir, but your flight to Liverpool has been cancelled."
"Cancelled!? Why?"
"Because of a volcano eruption."
"But there are no volcanoes in Liverpool!"
(OK, maybe my last reply was a bit silly, but I couldn't resist.)
Great to see this beautiful shot here, but I wish I was in Liverpool.
Err...thanks for showing the beauty of it?

Hello,
A beautiful abstract work of art, created all by the power of nature, and captured by a skill photographer, great timing. Not much else to say but to enjoy and appreciate. Thanks.

Hi Michel,
I am amazed...this is...I have no words to describe this excellent image. Oh my God! I can't believed that you have seen with your own eyes what is happening on Iceland right now. All the Nature's raw power trying to come to surface...and you captured it perfectly.
You have my admiration, Stasa

Bonjour Michel
Au 5OOmm! Quelle netettι, et joli contraste, la lave qui jaillit est presque phosphorescente!
Es tu scotchι en Islande en attendant que les nuages volcaniques se soient dissipιs?

what an astonishing photo - in what seems to me quite extreme conditions, lens, speed aperture etc . and so expressive of just what was going on these last few weeks - brilliant !
