Photographer's Note
Hungarians are proud of their folk art heritage. This traditional house in the village of Fuzer has been preserved to demonstrate the typical village architecture of the region with folk motifs painted on the outside. It's over a hundred years old, with walls built of sun-dried mud bricks. The walls are over a foot thick and so strong, you could bounce an axe off them. At least that's what one of the locals told me. The roof is freshly thatched with straw. I tried to capture the personality of this house with its plump thatched "hairdo".
